Young Tradition Touring Group to Visit Bishop Booth


The Young Tradition Touring Group will present a performance at the Bishop Booth Conference Center in Burlington.  This will be the first public performance of material the group has been working on since September.  Featured will be artist leaders, youth leaders and members of the 2017/2018 Touring Group.  Suggested donation $20.  All contributions dedicated to costs associated with the group’s rehearsals and performances in Vermont (Burlington, Greensboro and Middlebury) and Scotland.  General admission seating available after 6:30pm.  More info from mark.sustic@gmail.com.


The Young Tradition Touring Group consists of teen players, singers and dancers who focus on learning and performing traditional music and dance repertoire over the course of 9 months, starting in September and ending in early May at Young Tradition Weekend, including an April performance tour.  The group is planning a visit to Scotland in 2018.  Group members learn from and are supported by a group manager, artist leaders and youth leaders, in addition to exchanges with young performers and organizations while on the performance tour.


The group is supported by artist leaders Pete Sutherland, Dominque Dodgeand Andrea Beaton, youth leaders Rose Jackson and Oliver Scanlon, and manager Mark Sustic, the 2017/2018 Young Tradition Touring Groupincludes 24 auditioned members ranging in age from 12 to 20. Though most Touring Group members are from throughout Vermont, the group also includes members from Massachusetts and the Adirondacks in New York State.


The performance will feature artist leaders and youth leaders and the full Touring Group.
