BURLINGTON, VT - Rock Point Intentional Community (RPIC) is pleased to announce a Wisdom School retreat, "Learning Our Lineage, with Cynthia Bourgeault" April 4-7 at Bishop Booth Conference Center, 20 Rock Point Road, Burlington, VT. This retreat is meant for, but not limited to, those who are familiar with the RPIC Wisdom School and wish to deepen their understanding of our lineage, teachings and practices.
"Learning Our Lineage, with Cynthia Bourgeault" is a participatory retreat, which means it is facilitated by the participants. For example, participants co-lead the event, help with setup and cleanup, and assist as needed. Volunteerism is part of the Benedictine rule and Conscious Work practices that are integral to our Wisdom tradition.
To ensure a relaxed, low key, and inexpensive gathering, there will be no formal catering. Meals (which include Thursday dinner, Friday and Saturday continental breakfast and lunch; and Sunday breakfast) will be prepared by generous volunteers. There will be no dinner provided on Friday and Saturday. However, those lodging at Bishop are welcome to arrange a communal meal or may choose to dine at one of the many nearby eateries.
A freewill offering will be collected to support Northeast Wisdom and the Wisdom Way of Knowing. These organizations produce recordings and useful materials, as well as provide leaders who assist us in building the Rock Point wisdom community.
Registration (retreat only) is $180. No deposit is required, but cancellations after March 29 will be billed for food. Lodging must be booked separately.

We made this change in response to requests for a shorter day and for this retreat to be more restful for all members of our community, including kitchen workers, allowing fuller participation. The changes also decrease the costs,
A note on the content:The retreat centers around portions of Cynthia Bourgeault’s talks from a Wisdom School at Kanuga, North Carolina. Our theme is the three-centered way of knowing of Cynthia’s teaching (including the Rule of Benedict) interspersed with wisdom practices such as lectio divina, sacred movement, contemplative prayer, chanting, conscious work and opportunities to have facilitated conversations around the topics.

It shows many places where a participant can take responsibility for facilitating a practice Please review it carefully and select the specific practices you are able and willing to lead.

We will invite a separate freewill offering to Northeast Wisdom and the Wisdom Way of Knowing, to support the work they do to produce tapes and lots of useful materials, as well as providing leaders who are helping us build our Rock Point wisdom community.
